The ‘Gabriele d’Annunzio’ University, established in 1965 as a ‘Libera Università’ (non state-owned university), became state-owned in 1982. Today, it has 13 Departments and 2 Schools. Two university campuses – one located in Chieti, and another in Pescara – host 25,000 students.
Pescara (http://www.abruzzoturismo.it/co.uk/) is an astonishing, well-known, seaside resort which is yearly attracting tourists the world over. Connections to many international destinations are available through the Abruzzo International Airport (http://www.abruzzoairport.com/), or through Pescara Railway Station. Comfortable and fast coaches also run from Fiumicino Airport to Pescara (www.prontobusitalia.it), providing multiple daily connections between the Abruzzo region and Rome. In addition, the Abruzzo region features many sites of historical interest, boasts a splendid national park, and is renowned for its wine, olive oil, pasta and other culinary delights.
