The ‘Gabriele d’Annunzio’ University, established in 1965 as a ‘Libera Università’ (non state-owned university), became state-owned in 1982. Today, it has 13 Departments and 2 Schools. Two university campuses – one located in Chieti, and another in Pescara – host 25,000 students.

 

Local Information

Pescara (http://www.abruzzoturismo.it/co.uk/) is an astonishing, well-known, seaside resort which is yearly attracting tourists the world over.  Connections to many international destinations are available through the Abruzzo International Airport (http://www.abruzzoairport.com/), or through Pescara Railway Station. Comfortable and fast coaches also run from Fiumicino Airport to Pescara (www.prontobusitalia.it), providing multiple daily connections between the Abruzzo region and Rome. In addition, the Abruzzo region features many sites of historical interest, boasts a splendid national park, and is renowned for its wine, olive oil, pasta and other culinary delights.

Getting to ECIIC 2019

Pescara (https://abruzzoturismo.it/en) is a seaside resort in the Abruzzo area of Italy. Connections to many international destinations are available through the Abruzzo International Airport (http://www.abruzzoairport.com/ ), or through Pescara Railway Station. Comfortable and fast coaches also run from Fiumicino Airport in Rome to Pescara (www.prontobusitalia.it). The Abruzzo region features many sites of historical interest, boasts a splendid national park, and is renowned for its wine, olive oil, pasta and other culinary delights.
The closest international airport to Pescara is Abruzzo Airport, which is located at about 5 km from the town centre. Bus no. 38 runs every 15 minutes between the airport and Pescara Centre and costs €1,10 .
Other options for international travellers include Ancona airport, which is 160Km from Pescara. Trains take from 1h 15m or it takes approximately 1h 30m to drive.
Rome (Leonardo da Vinci airport)  is 240Km from Pescara. It takes around 2h 30m to drive.

Conference Accomodation

Below you will find a number of recommended hotels at various prices, the designated Conference Hotel for ECIIC is the Hotel Regent. This is usually where pre-conference drinks are held and where any transportation required for the conference dinner will run from.
We do not currently have special arrangements with the local hotels, but you will find competitive prices on online booking agents such as booking.com. Below is a selection of hotels recommended by the university.
