Local Information

Derry-Londonderry is the only completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest in Europe, and the best way to enjoy these stony ramparts is to go slow, taking life at your leisure. Take a walking tour and hear the fascinating stories about brutal 17th century sieges, starving citizens and fearsome roaring cannons.  I Stand on the city walls, built over 400 years ago, and you’ll feel it, history is all around you. Look over to the city’s Bogside area and you’ll see history literally written on the walls in those famous murals, including our very own Derry Girls https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/80238565

Traditional music spills out onto the streets from cosy pubs, museums tell stories of times past and people still celebrate ancient festivals.

Derry (as its locally known) is cosmopolitan, creative and steeped in history, but it’s the unique combination of warmth and with that makes Derry-Londonderry so special. This is a vibrant modern city with a cutting-edge food scene, an exciting cultural life and a pretty impressive ability to enjoy life.
