Personal Message from the Conference Chairs

In today’s complex global landscape, the role of innovation and entrepreneurship extends far beyond technological advancements or financial success. Businesses and entrepreneurs have a vital role to play in addressing societal and environmental challenges, creating not only economic value but also lasting social impact. The concept of social value in business is gaining momentum, with organizations recognizing that responsible practices and social innovation can drive both profitability and positive societal change.

We are thrilled to welcome researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from around the world to the 20th European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ECIE), which will take place on 25-26 September 2025 at UKEN, Krakow, Poland. Hosted by the Department of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation, this year’s conference will focus on the critical role that businesses can play in creating social value. Topics such as social entrepreneurship, nature-based solutions (NBS), and responsible business practices will be at the forefront of the discussion. These approaches not only aim to solve pressing issues like climate change and social inequality but also help redefine the very nature of business itself.

In addition, we will explore the impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) on society. These technological forces are reshaping industries, creating new opportunities for innovation, and fundamentally transforming the way we approach business and social challenges. AI has the potential to drive smarter, more efficient solutions, while digital transformation enables businesses to operate more sustainably, adapt quickly to change, and address the evolving needs of communities around the world.

We believe that by integrating social and environmental goals into the core strategies of businesses and harnessing the power of digital tools and AI, we can promote responsible innovation that fosters smart and inclusive growth. Social enterprises and social innovation models are leading the way in demonstrating how business can be a force for good, contributing to a more equitable and sustainable future for all.

Join us as we explore how businesses, through the power of technology and human-centered innovation, can act as catalysts for meaningful social change while remaining competitive and resilient in today’s evolving marketplace.
