Keynote Speaker Outlines
The following are outlines for the Keynote Speeches which will take place at ECCWS 2026
Securing the Digital Future: The UK Government’s Approach to Cyber Security
In this keynote, Lorna will provide an insight into the UK government’s approach to cyber security policy, including how the government advocates for, and aims to promote and incentivise, the adoption of secure by design principles throughout supply chains. This talk will focus primarily on software security policy but will consider the broader context of the government’s evolving national cyber security strategy and key trends impacting the UK’s approach to addressing cyber security risks associated with existing, evolving, and emerging technologies.
Mapping the impact of future & emerging technologies on cybersecurity
One of the tasks handed to the new UK Network Plus ‘CRANE’ (www.crane.ac.uk) was the unenviable task of mapping future and emerging technologies, and then exploring the possible impacts – in terms of how adversaries might use them, and the need for new methods to secure them. In this keynote, Prof. Joinson, the lead within CRANE for this activity, will discuss a range of future and emerging technologies – from neuro enhancements and brain computer interfaces to agentic AI – and what the possible security implication might be. Prof Joinson will also discuss what we as a community of cybersecurity researchers need to begin thinking about now in order to secure the future.
