About Academic Development Forum (The Forum)

The objective of The Forum is to encourage scholarly work through international networking, research-related webinars, and other activities. International networking will be facilitated through Knowledge Cafés and panel discussions, while research development will be supported through webinars and workshops on topical subjects. In addition, research students will be assisted through structured viva voce events. Other events will also be hosted from time to time as described below.

All Forum events are conducted online through Zoom. In general times will be UK time, but in due course events may be offered in other time zone.
Registration for all events will close 24 hours prior to the event.
The main beneficiaries of The Forum are envisaged to be early-career academics, as well as doctoral and, where applicable, master’s degree students. Early-career academics are individuals who have recently taken up academic positions at universities and are working towards achieving the research and publication objectives typically expected by their employers. Being able to network with both experienced academics and peers in similar positions provides substantial support in achieving these objectives.
With regard to research students, networking can help fill gaps that may remain despite the advice and guidance provided by supervisors. Engaging with a wider academic community offers additional perspectives, practical advice, and valuable opportunities that enhance students’ research development and academic progress.
Academics at all levels are also welcome to join The Forum.
The Forum is open to active scholars, and there is no charge for membership. To become a member, you must register by completing an application form. Your membership number will provide free access to all facilities offered to Forum members.
The Forum will keep members informed about upcoming events through email, its website and a quarterly newsletter. Suggestions for new events or activities are welcome from any member.
