Are you transforming the way social media works in practice? Have your campaigns sparked real change, elevated engagement, or set new standards in innovation? Then it’s your time to shine. The Social Media in Practice Excellence Awards are back—and we’re celebrating the most impactful, creative, and strategic uses of social media across sectors. Whether you’re using social media in education, healthcare, community development, charities, government or in marketing, we are looking for innovative demonstrations of how social media can be used in a diverse range of settings. The objective of the Social Media in Practice Excellence Awards is to highlight Interesting or leading edge applications of social media and this is achieved through the publication of winning case histories submitted by contestants. The best case histories are presented at the European Conference on Social media and published in a book.

A prize of £500GBP will be awarded to the winner of Social Media in Practice Excellence Awards.

In the first instance you should submit a short outline of your project through the online form below. If the proposal is suitable we will invite you to submit a full case history of no more than 3000 words which will be considered as an entry to the competition. A panel of international adjudicators will evaluate the case histories. When preparing your initial submission, bear in mind that full case histories will be structured around the following headings:

      • The nature of the social media initiative and its specific objectives
      • The infrastructure, i.e. people, systems, hardware, software etc. required to launch the initiative
      • The challenges that were encountered, how they developed and how they were overcome
      • How the initiative was received
      • How the initiative was tested for validity and reliability
      • The learning outcomes that were achieved and how they were measured and evaluated
      • Plans to further develop the initiative.

Authors of the top rated initiatives will be invited to register and attend the European Conference on Social Media (ECSM) in Larnaka, Cyrpus on 28-29 May 2026 to present their case histories to the judges and conference participants.
