Are you an educator passionate about shaping the next generation of tourism and hospitality professionals? Have you developed an innovative teaching initiative that has made a real impact in the classroom or beyond?

The Teaching Tourism and Hospitality Excellence Awards recognize and celebrate outstanding educators who are advancing teaching excellence in tourism, hospitality, and related fields. Whether you’ve pioneered new pedagogical methods, created transformative student experiences, or built industry partnerships that bring learning to life—we want to hear your story.


Who Can Enter?

This competition is open to academic teachers and educators working in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and events management—across colleges, universities, or training institutions around the world.


What We’re Looking For:

We invite submissions of case histories that showcase innovative, impactful, or inspiring teaching initiatives. Your case history should demonstrate:

  • Creativity in teaching and learning design
  • Student engagement and learning outcomes
  • Connection to industry or real-world application
  • Scalability or replicability for other educators
  • A clear narrative of challenges, approaches, and success

How to Enter

To enter the competition this year we are asking, in the first instance, for a 300 word abstract describing the initiative. If your proposal is suitable you will be invited to submit a full case history of no more than 3000 words, which will be considered as an entry to the competition. A panel of international adjudicators will evaluate the case histories. When preparing your abstract, keep in mind that full case histories will be structured around the following headings:

  • Introduction to the nature of the teaching/training initiative and its specific objectives
  • The infrastructure i.e. people, systems, hardware, software etc. required to launch the initiative
  • The challenges that were encountered, how they developed and how they were overcome
  • How the initiative was received by the learners and other participants
  • The learning outcomes that were achieved and how they were measured and evaluated
  • Plans to further develop the initiative.

The judges will consider all submissions received by the closing date and Shortlisted finalists will be invited to register and attend the conference in Lisbon on 16 - 17 April 2026 to present their case histories to the judges and conference participants. Finalists will also have their case histories published in a book and a prize will be awarded to the initiative judged to show the most creative thinking with regards teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

All presenters in the awards must attend the physical conference.
