Dr Larry Persons Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and CE of, CQ Leadership Consulting Cultural intelligence is an indispensable tool for effective leadership and management in a globalized world. Organizations across the globe are expanding beyond cultural borders with profound cross-cultural implications. What can be done to retool leaders and managers for this challenge? They must become students of culture with skills and strategies of recognizing cultural differences, mapping cultures, and developing global dexterity.

Academic and Practitioners: Who is Leading and Who is Managing?

Dr Arthur Shelley

Throughout history there has been an unhealthy distrust between academics and practitioners and as a result, limited communication between them.  They don’t read each other’s literature, they speak different language and have different focus. This focus on their differences is what drives the gap, but this is actually where the best opportunities exist for them to interact and co-create greater impact. Insights and innovations emerge from the gaps between the points of knowledge and experiences, so bringing practitioners and academics together to “bounce off each other” is a great way to BOTH lead and manage different thinking, build more robust relationships and thereby elevate the performance of teams, organisations and society generally.
