Venue and other Useful Information

Conference location

The University of Stellenbosch Business School  (USB) is situated on the Bellville Park Campus, a satellite campus of the University of Stellenbosch. The Bellville Park campus is adjacent to the Tyger Waterfront business hub and is situated some 25 km from the centre of Cape Town and 35 km from the main campus in the historic town of Stellenbosch.

University information

The University of Stellenbosch Business School offers an MBA degree, two other Master’s degrees and a PhD, as well as various public and customised management, leadership and specialist programmes – all focused on the development of business leadership in South Africa and beyond.

The USB has succeeded in building a first-rate reputation over the more than 40 years of its existence. It prides itself on turning out highly marketable graduates, with both practical business acumen and intellectual depth.

The USB has been ranked first in the Professional Management Review survey and second in the Financial Mail survey among top business schools in South Africa in 2005. These surveys were conducted among line managers and human resource managers, and employers and graduates, respectively.

Conference accommodation

Conference dinner venue

General information

Cape Town, situated below the slopes of Table Mountain, has been called one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with a cosmopolitan community that enriches its wide diversity of languages, cultures and architectural styles.

Getting to Cape Town

Airports –

The newly refurbished and renovated Cape Town International Airport is located on the N2 highway about 20 minutes (22km)from the city centre. Although Johannesburg International Airport is the main hub for flights into and out of South Africa, Cape Town International is nevertheless a busy airport with many of the major airlines flying direct to Cape Town. By Car
From Cape Town

Take N1 direction Paarl; take R302 (Durban Road/Willie van Schoor) turn-off; turn left into Durban Road at traffic light on bridge; continue for 200 m and turn left into Mispel Road at next traffic light; continue for 500 m and turn left into Carl Cronjé Drive; continue for 200 m and turn right at the next set of traffic lights (at Vodacom Golf Village). Continue up the road until you reach the campus on the hill.

 

From Paarl

Take N1 direction Cape Town; take R302 (Durban Road/Willie van Schoor) turn-off; 200m further, turn right into Durban Road at second set of traffic lights; 200m further, turn left into Mispel Road at next traffic light; 500m further, turn left into Carl Cronjé Drive; continue for 200 m and turn right at the next set of traffic lights (at Vodacom Golf Village). Continue up the road until you reach the campus on the hill.

 

From Cape Town International Airport

Follow M22 from airport; take M22 Bellville turn-off (Borcherd Quarry); follow this road for 1,6 km; take M10 Bellville turn-off (Modderdam Road); follow this road for 1,8 km; turn left into De La Rey Road (M29 Parow/Tygerberg turn-off); follow this road for 5,6 km and turn right into Frans Conradie Road (M25 Bellville); follow this road for 3,1 km and turn left into Carl Cronjé Road at traffic light; continue for 200 m and turn right at next set of traffic lights (at Vodacom Golf Village). Continue up the road until you reach the campus on the hill.

 

From Somerset West/Strand

Take N2 to Cape Town; take the R300 turn-off to Bellville; take N1 turn-off to Cape Town; take R302 (Durban Road/Willie van Schoor) turn-off; continue for 200 m and turn right into Durban Road at second set of traffic lights; continue for 200 m and turn left into Mispel Road at next traffic light; continue for 500 m and turn left into Carl Cronjé Drive; continue for 200 m and turn right at next set of traffic lights (at Vodacom Golf Village). Continue up the road until you reach the campus on the hill.

 

Taxi costs

Taxis are available at the airport.  They are reported on most websites to be relatively expensive with the fare to destinations in the city centre being approx. R150.

Climate in conference month

The conference is being held at the start of the summer, when temperatures vary from mid 20's to mid 30's with little rain over the period.
