General information
|
Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal
and the only European capital with Atlantic beaches. It is also the
westernmost city on continental Europe.
There has been a settlement in the area since before roman times and at its
height, Lisbon was one of the most influential
cities in Europe. Sadly, a terrible
earthquake in November of 1755 reduced the city to rubble and although it was
beautifully rebuilt, it never regained its former commercial and nautical
power.
A popular tourist destination, you can find information here or by following the links in the Other useful links
