University information

The Institute of Cybernetics at Tallinn University of Technology (http://www.ioc.ee/index.php.en) was founded in 1960 as an institute of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. Since 1997 it is affiliated with Tallinn University of Technology.

 

The Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (http://www.ccdcoe.org) is an International Military Organization, accredited by NATO. It carries out cyber defence related R&D, and training projects. The CCD COE currently has seven sponsoring nations: Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovak Republic and Spain.

Conference accommodation

We have negotiated special conference rates at the following hotels in Tallinn:-

 

§         The von Stackelberg Hotel was built in 1874 as a private residence. Located directly on the Old Town of Tallinn at the foot of Toompea Hill, only a few steps away from Toompea Castle and Nevsky Cathedral about 6.9 kms from the conference venue. The ACI conference support team will be staying at this hotel. Should there be a requirement for ground transportation to the Conference Dinner this hotel will be the pick up and drop off point. §         Meriton Grand Conference & Spa Hotel is an elegant modern hotel situated at the heart of the capital. It is located close to the Old Town and about 7 kms from the conference venue. §         Nordic Forum Hotel is a new modern hotel in the center of Tallinn located about 7.7 kms from the conference venue. Click here to visit the hotel website. The location of the hotel has been placed on the ECIW 2011 google map.

 

Conference dinner venue

The dinner venue for ECIW 2011 is yet to be decided. Your place at the conference dinner is included I your registration fee.

 

General information

Tallinn is located on the coast of the Baltic sea, in northern Estonia. It is a medieval Old Town that is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage site list and it is designated as the Culture Capital of Europe for 2011 ( http://www.tallinn2011.ee).


Tallinn is one of two Culture Capitals of Europe this year, so there are a lot of extra cultural activities. For example, the Medieval Days from 07-10 July, which may be of interest to the conference participants.

Getting to the conference

Air


Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport is probably the most convenient way to Tallinn - (http://www.tallinn-airport.ee/eng)


A ferry service is available from Rostock, Stockholm or Helsinki. See http://www.ts.ee for details.


Buses are also available from Eastern Europe. See http://www.luxexpress.eu/lang/ for details


Transportation from the airport, port or bus station: ~15 EUR, normally takes about 20-30 minutes

Local transportation

Public transport in Tallinn consists of bus, tram and trolleybus. Bus routes are mainly operated by Tallinna Autobussikoondis (TAK). All trams and trolleys are operated by Tallinna Trammi- ja Trollibussikoondis (TTTK). Electric train services are offered by Elektriraudtee
