General information

Montpellier is the capital of the French province of the Languedoc-Roussillon area. Populated by around, 230 000 inhabitants, the city is located on Lez, near the Mediterranean littoral.  A tourist city, Montpellier features the Atger museum, the Fabre museum and the oldest botanical garden of France.

Getting to

By plane:

The international airport Montpellier-Méditerrannée is located about 7 km from the city centre. There are several daily connections with Paris (flying time 1 hour) and regular direct flights from most French and European cities. A Shuttle bus operates from the airport to the city centre: 15 minutes journey, cost:  around €5.

By Car:

Montpellier is connected to Paris, Lyon and Barcelona via Autoroute A9, allowing very easy access from main European countries. Please note that the historical centre of Montpellier is a pedestrian area.

By train:
The train station “gare St Roch” is located in the city centre and is connected to main public transportation. Montpellier is on TGV (high speed train) line Paris-Lyon - Perpignan - Barcelona and is connected to several cities in France and Europe.
