University information

The Open University of Catalonia (UOC) is an innovative institution, created at the request of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Regional Government of Catalonia). Emerging from the knowledge society, it has developed as an online, on-the-web University. The presence of the UOC in the world arena is consolidated through a strategy of alliances with universities and research institutions, representative of different countries, with which the university shares a similar vision and values.

Conference Accommodation

Conference Dinner venue

The conference dinner will be held in the Restaurant Can Cortada, which is in an 11th Century defence tower. You can find more information about the restaurant by clicking on the name. You can book additional dinner guests when you register.

General information

Barcelona, second largest city in Spain, is the capital of Catalonia, one of 17 regions. The city dates back to 2BC, when a roman settlement was founded. A modern city, Barcelona proudly protects it’s spectacular Gothic centre.

Getting to

Airport

Barcelona International Airport is 12Km outside the city and has regular flights from several airlines. There is a regular Aerobus connection into Barcelona costing around €3-7. There are also trains, around €4-5.

By Car

Internal public transport

Barcelona has a good public transport network with buses, metro and trains all operating around the city and further afield. You can find more details here.

Taxi costs

From the Airport to Central Barcelona, expect to pay around €30. within the city itself, taxis are fairly cheap and operate meters.
