| Carlos Vaz de Carvalho Carlos has a PhD in Information Systems and Technology. He is a Professor at the Engineering School of the Porto Polytechnic (ISEP) and the Director of the R&D group GILT (Graphics, Interaction and Learning Technologies). He was e-Learning Director (2001-2005) of ISEP and Director of the Distance Learning Unit of the Porto Polytechnic (1997-2000). | Paula Escudeiro Paula is a teacher at IPP-ISEP with vast experience in project supervision and evaluation, accumulated for the past 21 years. She has a PhD on Informatics/Information Systems on Education and prior experience on software industry related to the development of educational software. | Dr. Jaime Enrique Villate Jaime’s main research interests are Astronomical Optical Interferometry and e-learning systems. In the area of astronomical interferometry, He started working recently with the GRAVITY project of the European Southern Observatory (ESO). In the area of e-learning, he has supervised 2 Master theses on the production of multimedia educational material and the use of the Learning Management System MOODLE, and is currently supervising a Ph. D. thesis. From 2001 to 2009 I was a member of the ATLAS collaboration at CERNFunded by a Fulbright Scholarship. Jaime received an M. A. degree in Physics, in 1987, and a Ph. | Paul Peachey Paul is currently a module leader and senior lecturer based at the University of Glamorgan, Wales. He has been significantly involved in the development and management of two large e-Learning projects in Wales and is actively assisting the pedagogical design, development and installation of VLEs in Welsh schools. Paul has experience as an e-moderating trainer and continues to research the pedagogical aspects of e-learning solutions. Paul also assists the Centre of Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at the University of Glamorgan in its quest to establish good practice in the field. | Dr Mark Brown Mark is the Director of Distance Education at Massey University, New Zealand. He has an extensive background in the use of new educational technologies. In 2006, he was a recipient of a national award for sustained teaching excellence and was a member of the Steering Committee for the Mahara open source ePortfolio initiative funded by the New Zealand government. He has a particular in interest in the application of e ePortfolios in the area of teacher education. In addition, Dr Brown has a particular interest in educational policy and was involved in a major analysis of eLearning policy across seven regions of the world including Europe. | Neal Sumner Neal is a Senior Lecturer in Learning Development at City University London. He has been closely involved in the institution-wide implementation of the WebCT VLE between 2003 and 2009, and is now leading on the pedagogical strand of the project to implement Moodle as a replacement VLE for the university, as part of a wider implementation of a strategic learning environment. | Abel Nyamapfene Abel lectures in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the University of Exeter, UK. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Chartered IT Professional (CITP) with the British Computer Society. He has taught for over twenty years across two continents in both higher education and further education in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science and Information Systems. | Jana Kapounova Jana is an associate professor at the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). She teaches subjects as Educational Technology, ICT in Education, eLearning. She guarantees studies of ICT in Education in bachelor, master and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic. | Dr Roy Williams Roy Williams designs learning spaces and knowledge management applications at the Flexible Learning Studio in the Faculty of Technology at the University of Portsmouth, and he is also the e-learning coordinator for the Faculty. He researches and published widely on e-learning, knowledge management, both on the practical design and application, and on the theory of learning and knowledge management. He currently has a grant from the Higher Education Academy in the UK to apply the theories of complex adaptive systems and ecological affordances to learning. He is actively involved in the European and International Conferences on e-learning, knowledge management, and business research methods and has edited the Electronic Journal of e-learning. He has held posts of Professor and Chair of Communication, Visiting Professor of Education, Visiting Examiner, Executive Board member of the IBA, the South African Broadcast regulator, and set up the joint-venture publishing company, Sached Books Pty Ltd. . |  Roy Williams | |
